Since joining the Ark-Tex Council of Governments in December 2010, Tammy Tilley has helped keep the organization’s financial operations moving behind the scenes. As an Accounting Specialist in the Finance Department, her work supports a wide range of day-to-day functions that help programs across the agency operate efficiently.
A typical day for Tammy includes approving requisitions and purchase order requests, processing and coding invoices for payment, running reports, maintaining financial spreadsheets, and submitting reimbursement requests for TUTD and TRAX. Her responsibilities require attention to detail and consistent organization, ensuring financial processes stay on track.
For Tammy, the most rewarding part of the job comes from the people around her and the impact of the organization’s work. “Most of what I love about my job is the people I work with and being able to contribute to the community,” she said.
Outside of work, Tammy enjoys spending time at the beach and remembers one trip in particular as her favorite vacation. She spent a week in Hawaii, where she frequently visited Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea Beach, watched surfers from her condo balcony, went parasailing, and spent time snorkeling. “It was a lifetime vacation,” she said.
Like many people, Tammy has a household chore she’d rather avoid. Unloading the dishwasher tops her list. When she’s on her phone, the app she uses most is Amazon, and when it comes to future travel, the beach remains her favorite destination.
After more than 15 years with ATCOG, Tammy continues to play an important role in the Finance Department, supporting the organization’s mission through the financial work that keeps its programs running each day.
