Spotlight: Claude Ramsey

Claude Ramsey has spent more than 15 years helping keep the Ark-Tex Council of Governments running behind the scenes, balancing technology, cybersecurity, facilities management, and problem-solving across the organization. Since joining ATCOG in December 2010, Ramsey has served as IT/Facilities Director, overseeing everything from network infrastructure and servers to cloud systems and help desk support.

His day-to-day responsibilities span a wide range of technical and operational needs. Ramsey manages daily IT activities while also identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. In addition, he oversees vendor contracts for software, hardware, and building maintenance, helping maintain the systems and infrastructure staff rely on every day.

“What I enjoy most about my job is the ability to make a real impact on our organization by modernizing our systems and increasing efficiency,” Ramsey said.

That focus on practical solutions has become part of his reputation around the office. At one point, coworkers gave him the nickname “MacGyver” because of his ability to fix things with duct tape and creative problem-solving.

Before joining ATCOG, Ramsey worked aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln as an Aviation Electrician, a role he describes as the coolest job he has ever had. The experience added to the technical background he now applies to supporting ATCOG’s operations and staff.

Ramsey also approaches his work with a straightforward personal mantra: “If all else fails, read the documentation.”

Whether troubleshooting technical issues, strengthening cybersecurity, or coordinating facility maintenance, Ramsey plays a key role in keeping ATCOG’s systems operating efficiently and securely.
