The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) begins a new leadership term with a new Board President and three newly elected Executive Committee members, bringing together local leaders to help guide regional priorities.

Morris County Judge Doug Reeder assumed the role of ATCOG Board President on October 1, 2026. Having served on the ATCOG Board of Directors and Executive Committee for more than seven years, Reeder brings experience in regional collaboration and local government to his new leadership position.

Joining Judge Reeder are three newly elected Executive Committee members: DeKalb Mayor Lowell Walker, Mount Pleasant Mayor Wesley Lyon II and Dana Reeves, General Manager of Franklin County Water District. Each began a two-year term on October 1, 2026.

“We’re pleased to welcome Mayor Walker, Mayor Lyon and Dana Reeves to the Executive Committee,” said Mary Beth Rudel, ATCOG Executive Director. “Working alongside fellow Executive Committee members, their diverse perspectives will help strengthen regional cooperation and guide decisions that benefit all of the communities we serve.”

The Executive Committee is responsible for implementing policies established by ATCOG’s Board of Directors and conducting council business. Its members represent communities and organizations across the region, bringing local perspectives to decisions that support shared priorities.

Under Judge Reeder’s leadership, the committee will continue supporting ATCOG’s mission of strengthening cooperation among local governments, coordinating regional planning and improving the quality of life for residents across Northeast Texas and Miller County, Arkansas.
