Purpose of the Focus Groups
Each group meets on Zoom to discuss current needs and service gaps across the region. Participants will help ensure that local priorities reflect real challenges and goals within their communities. ATCOG encourages representatives from:
-
Juvenile Justice Services
-
Law Enforcement
-
Victim Services
-
Mental Health
-
Substance Abuse
After each discussion, ATCOG compiles the feedback and presents updated priorities to the Regional Criminal Justice Advisory Committee (RCJAC) and the ATCOG Board of Directors for approval.
Why Participation Matters
The RCJAC uses these approved priorities when scoring yearly grant applications submitted to the Office of the Governor – Public Safety Office/Criminal Justice Division (PSO/CJD).
New Focus Group: Underserved and Vulnerable Populations
This year, ATCOG added a new focus group for underserved and vulnerable residents. The group welcomes rural community members and individuals with lived experience in the criminal justice system. Victims and other community participants can share their experiences, identify service barriers, and suggest ways to improve support systems.
Looking Ahead: Updating the Strategic Plan
In the coming months, ATCOG will update the 2026 Regional Criminal Justice Strategic Plan.
