Spotlight: Tim Carter

Employee Spotlight of Tim Carter. A man wearing a navy blue shirt. He is a Trax Operator for ATCOG.

After two decades on the road as a truck driver, Tim Carter made a career change that brought him closer to home and the community he serves. “I started working at ATCOG almost 9 years ago after retiring from 20 years of truck driving,” he said. “I really enjoy my job and helping passengers and interacting with them.”

As a Trax Operator, his days revolve around keeping people moving safely and reliably. The role gives him daily opportunities to meet passengers, offer assistance, and build connections through simple, everyday interactions.

Outside of work, family takes center stage. He is a proud father of three daughters and a grandfather to a 9-year-old boy. Life at home also includes the companionship of a Boston Terrier and two cats.

Travel is one of his favorite pursuits, with Galveston topping the list of vacation spots. “It’s close by and there are miles of beach to enjoy,” he shared. Books are another constant in his life. Reading, he said, is a hobby he could never give up. When time allows, he also devotes himself to restoring his classic 1971 GMC truck.

Asked about personal quirks, he didn’t hesitate: arrogance is his biggest pet peeve. That straightforward attitude, combined with his love of learning and passion for family, shapes the way he approaches both work and life.

Nearly a decade into his career with ATCOG, Tim Carter continues to find meaning in the simple but vital role of helping people get where they need to go. For him, it’s not just a job, but an opportunity to connect with the community one passenger at a time.

Thank you for 9 years of service Tim.
