The Texarkana (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has donated cooling fans to the Ark-Tex Council of Governments’ Area Agency on Aging (AAA) to help provide heat relief for seniors and individuals with disabilities throughout the region. The donation is part of the fraternity’s ongoing commitment to community service and supporting vulnerable populations.
“As part of our mission to inspire community service in the public interest, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in our community,” said Michael Williams, Polemarch of the Texarkana (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi. “Whether we’re helping at food distribution sites, supporting families in need, mentoring children in schools, or now providing cooling relief for our seniors, we believe in giving back and helping people in our community stay safe and comfortable.”
The fan donation program addresses a critical need during hot summer months, when extreme temperatures can pose serious health risks to older adults and individuals with disabilities. The AAA distributes fans to qualifying residents age 60 and older throughout the Ark-Tex Council of Governments region.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Texarkana (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi’s generous donation and their commitment to serving our community’s most vulnerable residents,” said Jenny Butler, Director of the Area Agency on Aging. “These fans can be lifesavers during extreme heat events, and partnerships like this one help us extend our reach to ensure seniors do not have to go without the cooling relief they need to stay safe and healthy.”
The AAA will continue to accept fan and monetary donations to support the cooling relief program throughout the summer. Fans and donations can be dropped off at the main office located at 4808 Elizabeth Street, Texarkana, Texas.
Seniors age 60 and older or individuals with disabilities who need a fan can request one by calling the Area Agency on Aging at 1-800-372-4464.
Monetary donations can be made in-person at the ATCOG office, mailed to ATCOG at 4808 Elizabeth Street, Texarkana, Texas, or made online at http://www.ATCOG.org.
