The Ark-Tex Council of Governments (ATCOG) announces the availability of approximately $38,000 to be distributed throughout our nine-county region to fund an illegal dumping surveillance camera loan program and community cleanup events during FY 2018 / 2019. The counties included within the ATCOG region are: Bowie, Cass, Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Lamar, Morris, Red River, and Titus. During FY 2018, ATCOG will purchase surveillance cameras and warning signs to be placed at known illegal dumpsites, for the purposes of discouraging illegal dumping and identifying illegal dumpers who violate the law. Each county will receive equal funding from ATCOG to conduct community cleanup events during FY 2019, and is encouraged to use matching funds, or in-kind services, in an effort to increase the effectiveness of these projects. At the discretion of each County Judge, any eligible entity located within the county may borrow the cameras and signs, and be selected to oversee the implementation of the community cleanup events. Eligible entities include: counties, cities, and independent school districts (excluding universities and other post-secondary institutions). In order to participate in these programs, all interested parties must submit a request to ATCOG beginning November 1, 2017.
