Texarkana Urban Transit District (TUTD), operating as T-Line Bus System, operates a fixed route bus service and ADA Complementary Paratransit Service within the City limits of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Texarkana, Wake Village and Nash, Texas.
TUTD is funded through the Section 5307 Small Urban Transit Program by the Federal Transit Administration, the Texas Department of Transportation and the Arkansas State Highway Department.
Currently there are six buses that operate on eight fixed routes, on one-hour headways from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The fare for fixed route is $1.25 for a one-way trip. Monthly passes are sold for $40.00 (discounted passes are available for students, elderly and persons with disabilities).
The ADA complementary Paratransit service operates the same days and hours that fixed route service is provided. The Paratransit services provide curb-to-curb transportation to eligible persons with disabilities who are unable to use the regular fixed route bus system. All origins and destinations of the Paratransit clients’ homes are within ¾ of a mile of a fixed bus route. The fare is $2.50 for a one-way trip. Personal care attendants may ride free.
The Ark-Tex Council of Governments entered into an Interlocal Agreement with the TUTD Board of Directors to provide Management and Fiscal services to the T-Line Bus System on April 4, 2011. The Paratransit service is operated by TRAX staff using TRAX vehicles under an agreement.
TUTD has a fleet of ten 24-passenger buses, six 14-passenger Paratransit buses and one minivan, with all fleet vehicles being ADA accessible. In fiscal year 2014, T-Line provided 315,215 one-way trips to the citizens of the Texarkana Urban Area and the buses traveled 375,593 miles.
